Me 2 You – May 2020
It’s a strange time as most of us are at home due to coronavirus, I have been self-isolating at home now for two and a half months as I was on the shielding list. I know my condition is quite broad so I can understand why there was a blanket stay at home order, although some have not been following this.
Hopefully, we are in the final few weeks where we who have been shielded can return to a ‘socially distanced society’, as there is only so long, I believe people will be able to sit it out. I hope we get some normality again soon.
I am currently writing a dairy book charting the coronavirus lockdown day by day, I know it’s likely to be archived at the council but may look to publish it. This enforced ‘part-sabbatical’, as Lewis Hamilton described it, from covering F1. Although the sabbatical means the second half of the season is going to be intense, meaning this blog may not be updated as regularly.
Lockdown and social distancing means that for many of us normal could be changed forever. Watching the spring through a window has been strange, but people keep telling me I have handled this very well. It’s not fun, no one would have wanted to be in this position.
Writing this dairy, I sometimes think of it as testimony as with the Holocaust survivors you can read. I have found writing this to be interesting and hope with some support that I may be able to share this with you in some form one day.
I ventured out into my garden for the first time to try and work on things, while the fresh air was lovely having been stuck at home due to shielding for the first time I attempted to work from my garden, this was difficult as I spent more time trying to get things to load.
Next month is global pride month, I have a few pieces hopefully lined up to come out over the next few weeks. Though with the F1 season beginning in July, mostly doubleheaders this site could be dormant for weeks or months.
Let’s look ahead to June, I have two pieces around LGBT month coming out… these have taken a lot of research and ‘thanks’ to Coronavirus and the delayed start to the F1 season means I have completed two of the pieces I wanted too!
The two pieces I have coming out, The Question ‘The Question – the need and origins of pride’ next Saturday and ‘Queer Icons’ two weeks later have taken months of research and time to develop. I hope you enjoy reading them and I’ll send you the links in June’s edition.
Once again, stay safe, well and only go out if you need too!
