Me 2 You – Easter, Passover & Ramadan
This weekend for many marks three major religious festivals Easter for Christians, Ramadan for Muslims and Passover for Jews. It’s a once in a thirty-three years event, the fleeing of Egypt in the exodus and crucifixion of Jesus as well as the fasting that Muslims do during the month of Ramadan are signs of what people do for faith, a time like Christmas we should all come together.
I know more about easter growing up and volunteering in church, but with easter, some people give up something for Lent and for Muslims they fast during the day both hoping to renew faith and belief. We should if we are lucky enough to get a break we should use it as a pause, a chance to enjoy spring, see our loved ones and recharge, going into the brief few weeks before the May Day bank holiday.
Most of these events involve ‘giving up something’ forty days of lent some Christians chose to give up something for lent whereas Muslims fast during daylight hours. Its about growing closer to god, but we should use this once in a thirty-three-year event to bring people together with love and respect.
We live in a multi-cultural country, we should use this weekend, to extend a branch to each other to celebrate all these events that what makes our country special.

This time in the run-up to orthodox easter next weekend we need to think of Ukraine, the second month of the biggest conflict in Europe since 1945 has shocked us all. This war when it does end, will need people to reconcile to come together, the biggest thing we can do is offer our love and support for the people of Ukraine.
Easter for me is an opportunity to recharge and reflect, it’s normally the last four-day break until Christmas. But we must not only focus on the three major religious festivals, we need to extend the hand to all faiths and people of no faiths as they are part of our country and to celebrate other peoples joy by sharing can be as rewarding.
Morning has broken, on the spring/summer months, “Mine is the sunlight, mine is the morning, Born of the one light, Eden saw play, Praise with elation, praise every morning.”
We should try and move into the spring and summer with positivity and hope, we will have our first summer without covid restrictions, we need to cease this new start to get on with our futures.
On a note, I’m trying to think of things to bring to you, but my life has gotten busy again and I’m lacking inspiration for things to write about. I hope one day soon I’ll get a spark of inspiration again…
