Me 2 You – September 2020

Hello,

There isn’t much going on at the moment on my site, as I’m sure you’re aware of the reason being the intense Formula One season. This has left me with little time amongst my other projects, including Coronavirus dairy. The world has changed and hopefully, a new normal is going to allow me to get back to more regular posts.

The next month I think is going to be an important one, as the pandemic and the US Election nears it conclusion these events are likely to define our world for decades to come. Against the backdrop of the pandemic and everything that going on who knows what the ‘October surprise’ is going to be?

I am currently writing a follow-up piece to, Make -insert country here- Great Again?, reflecting on the first term of Donald Trump. A lot of that will depend on the outcome of November’s elections. I feel it’s impossible to predict the outcome of the election at the moment.

Covering F1 continues to create headlines, one of the biggest stories this month was Pierre Gasly’s win at Monza. This was an incredibly rare result the first time since Melbourne 2013 that neither Mercedes, Ferrari or Red Bull have not won a race.

Yalda Hakim once said, “You have to be objective and impartial, but when you see something like that your reaction is a human one. Just because we’re journalist doesn’t mean we’re not affected by stories.”

As someone who covers F1 and is a fan, days like that even you need to remember objectivity and impartiality. But there is a human reaction, I had almost the same feeling as when Charles Leclerc won at Spa last year, for the same reasons, Anthoine Hubert.

Behind The Headlines – Italy – Madness at Monza

Our lives continue to be shaped by Coronavirus, with the health professionals I know as well as those in the media, warning about a second wave for weeks now.

Continuing to write the dairy book which I would like to publish at some point.

We had the death of US Supreme Court Judge Ruth Bader Ginsburg, one of the liberal justices. Reading about her and her vocalness during the Trump administration, she sounds like an incredible person. But expect an argument admit Covid-19 about her replacement.

RBG, I think we can learn a lot from after reading about her, seeing her cultural position in America and how she shaped the country for a generation it is hard to imagine a judge having a similar impact on this country.

Who knows what is going to be ‘The October Surprise’ or as Emily Maitlis said, “Or is this the October surprise, two weeks early?”

What’s ahead? An exciting month of racing as we head to the Nürburgring, Portimao and Imola. Imola I think will be an important weekend given this for nearly all the drivers this is their first Grand Prix at Imola, many would have seen or heard about the events of the 1994 race weekend.

That’s all for now, hopefully, soon I’ll be able to bring you my take on the Trump Presidency, I haven’t decided if it will be pre-election, but looks more likely to be the period between election day and inauguration of whoever wins it will still face the same challenges…

Stay safe and look after yourself both physically and mentally…
