Me 2 You

Me 2 You – Year in Review 2019

Welcome to a look back at some of the things I have brought you over the last year.

It’s been another turbulent year in politics, three elections in the UK (depending on where you live), the impeachment of Donald Trump and the continuing protests on climate change. The decade will be remembered for the biggest political shakeup since the end of WWII, in January I looked at this…

The other piece I wrote was Beyond Ten Years of Chaos, it hard to think I grew up through one of the most turbulent times since World War Two.

As the climate protests continue started by Greta Thunberg, is there a wider youthquake. Before the General Election, I looked at whether there has been more engagement from under 25’s because of the political climate around the world

One of the other things I enjoyed writing this year was about role models. I wanted to look and examine what one is, but also say look for role models beyond the well-known figures like Nelson Mandela, Ayrton Senna and find local role models

We all enjoy holidays, but what do you learn? In this, I wrote about what I have learnt through my travels. My conclusion was it is not about the politics of the country or what you read. People want to, on the whole, be helpful, love their city or town, kind and most of all want you to have a good experience.

The fire at Notre Dame in April sparked one of my favourite and most important national questions beyond politics, how do we look after our heritage. It is important, but what can we do and how do we look after these buildings?

Another thing I looked at was Englishness, this was partly sparked by a book I started to read. When I travel around the country you can see the difference in Wales and Scotland, but there is not much sense of Englishness which some may confuse with Britishness.

The most-read story of 2019 was The Holocaust, me and you, on the 27 January. I know this site I don’t promote, but it takes time to build an audience, which I believe is because it linked to topics, events or other things.

2020 marks a number of milestones 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and VE Day. But the story of the next year will sadly be the fall out from 2016, with Brexit and the impeachment trial / presidential election in the US.

Hopefully next year I’ll be more organised, but my focus is on F1 and my other projects… Join me for more content! You are the customer, I want you to suggest ideas, be prepared to share them with me!

One thing already in the pipeline is some things for pride month in June…

As ever, if you would like me to write about you or think there’s something, I should write about, contact me. I wish you all a very happy new year…
